Treat that as an operator estimate: your actual trip depends on which entrance you use and where your class is. Walking, cycling and trams can all work as part of your routine. There are a few ways to shop nearby. Melbourne Central has a Coles, and Asian groceries are available around Elizabeth Street. Lygon Street has plenty of Italian restaurants, cafés and Chinese food. For a bank, pharmacy or larger gym, check Melbourne Central, QV or City Baths nearby. Opening hours change, so search for the closest option before heading out.

If quiet, a tidy balcony or an on-site gym is high on your list, put those questions on your inspection checklist and verify them in person.
At the viewing, walk from the entrance to the nearest tram stop, then try the route to the campus building you will use most. Test the internet, kitchenette and laundry process if you can. Before choosing, confirm the lease length, weekly rent, inclusions, electricity arrangements and whether the exact room is available. That makes it much easier to compare places on the same basis.
