Would you rather cook or have meals organised? That is a useful starting point for Scape Victoria Street. At 25 Victoria Street, it is close to RMIT City and has study and fitness spaces. Ask about meal inclusions and serving times alongside the room you are considering.
The building is at 25 Victoria Street, between Carlton Gardens and the CBD. You are close to the university precinct, with trams taking you towards QV, Queen Victoria Market and the city. Bathroom, kitchen and meal arrangements vary by room type. Compare what is included before choosing a room.
There is a lot to use: a gym, study room, cinema or entertainment room, rooftop terrace and barbecue area, communal kitchen, laundry, plus music and gaming spaces. After class, you can work out, get an assignment done or catch up with flatmates without leaving the building. The rooftop is a good place to sit when the weather is nice. If you prefer to cook for yourself, read the meal package details carefully.
These rooms have a double bed, private bathroom, desk and wardrobe, with a kitchen usually shared with others in the same apartment. Some rooms face south towards the city, while options with views or a balcony face north towards Carlton Gardens. Ask about the floor, aspect and number of housemates, and check whether the light and street noise suit you.
Scape's own page puts RMIT City at about a two-minute walk. The University of Melbourne's Parkville campus is about a 15-minute walk or around 10 minutes by tram. Monash Parkville is roughly a 20-minute tram trip. Your actual time depends on the campus entrance and classroom, so try the route to your building before classes begin.
The nearest tram stops are about a three-minute walk away. QV has Woolworths for everyday groceries, Laguna Supermarket, pharmacies, gyms and Chinese food such as Little Sichuan and Café d'Hong Kong. Melbourne Central Station, Coles and Downtown Grocer are also within walking distance. Queen Victoria Market is useful for fresh food at the weekend, and there are bank branches and ATMs along Swanston Street. RMIT and the CBD are busy areas; when you come home late, use a route you know and feel comfortable with. RMIT City’s Medical Hub is in Building 8; save the location if you need a GP while studying nearby.
There are not many public discussions specifically about this building. Some students value the short walk to class; others say the meal plan can feel repetitive over time. Both are personal impressions, and menus and tastes change. At an inspection, ask how often the menu changes, when meals are served and whether the meal cost is already included in the rate you are comparing.
The 2027 room cards do not consistently establish the pricing basis or meal inclusions, so they do not support one clear rent range. Confirm the room, occupancy and meal package, then compare like-for-like offers. Avoid adding a meal charge again if it is already included.
Think about how many meals you will actually eat on site. If you normally cook, ask whether you can choose a room without a meal plan; if you have early classes, check the meal collection times and your route out of the building. At an inspection, notice the window aspect and whether the street noise suits you.
From the airport, you can take SkyBus to Southern Cross.
It is a practical option for RMIT City students who will use the gym, study areas and shared spaces. If you want a lower budget, prefer cooking for yourself or need a quieter place, compare it with student housing that does not bundle meals.
